If an employee fails to call in or arrive to work by the <br />designated time he will still be expected to notify his <br />supervisor as soon as possible of his whereabouts and the <br />circumstances of his absence. <br />Some deviation from the above policy may be considered but <br />only under very unusual circumstances (e.g. emergencies). <br />In addition to the loss of pay as stated above, reoccurring <br />problems may require greater disciplinary action, including <br />suspension or dismissal. <br />Section 38. Water Pollution Control Plant Certification <br />Employees working in a full-time permanent position who are <br />regularly assigned to the Water Pollution Control Plant <br />shall be reimbursed for obtaining or renewing job -required <br />certificates. <br />Section 39. Miscellaneous <br />39.1 The City and the San Leandro City Employee's Union have <br />agreed on implementation of a drug/alcohol testing program <br />pursuant to the Department of Transportation regulations as <br />outlined in Appendix "B". The listing of job <br />classifications included in the program is amended to <br />include Tree Trimmer I and 'II. <br />39.2 Participation in the City's deferred compensation plan <br />shall be voluntary on the part of the employee; and that <br />any and all contributions toward such plan shall be paid <br />entirely by the employee. <br />39.3 For those eligible and required employees, the City agrees <br />to continue to pay for the cost of getting and maintaining <br />a pesticide/herbicide application certificate. <br />39.4 The City agrees to pay the cost of written and medical <br />examinations for those employees who are required to <br />obtain and maintain a Class B Driver's License. <br />39.5 Standby Pay <br />A. Public Works Employees <br />Employees assigned to the water pollution control <br />plant who are required to standby from 4:00 p.m. to <br />8:00 a.m. shall be paid at the rate of one hour <br />straight time based on the employee's regular hourly <br />rate. The employee may elect to take compensatory <br />time off in an amount equal to one hour's straight <br />time in lieu of pay. Such assignments typically will <br />be made on a Saturday, Sunday and/or holiday. <br />33 <br />
