Employee's assigned to standby from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. <br />shall be paid at the rate of two hours of straight <br />time based on the employee's regular hourly rate. The <br />employee may elect to take compensatory time off in an <br />amount equal to two hours straight time in lieu of <br />pay. Such assignments shall typically be made on a <br />Saturday, Sunday and/or holiday. <br />Employees assigned to the public works services <br />department - electrical section, who are required to <br />standby from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Monday through <br />Friday shall receive, for each period of standby, one <br />hour of straight time pay based on the employee's <br />regular hourly rate of pay. Employee's shall receive <br />two hours of straight time pay for each Saturday, <br />Sunday, and holiday of required standby. <br />B. Police Civilian Employees <br />For required call out or court appearance on a normal <br />work day, a minimum of two hours pay at the overtime <br />rate will be paid for the first such call out or court <br />appearance, provided, however that court appearances <br />immediately before or after schedule duty hours shall <br />be deemed an extension of the shift and the two hour <br />minimum shall not apply. For required call out or <br />authorized work related appearance on a normal day <br />off, a minimum four hours pay at the overtime rate <br />will be paid for each of the first two such call outs, <br />provided, however, that a call out on a normal day off <br />immediately before or after scheduled duty hours shall <br />be deemed an extension of the shift and the four hour <br />minimum shall not apply. For court appearance on a <br />normal day off, a minimum four hours pay at the <br />overtime rate will be paid, plus payment of necessary <br />and actual related expenses. For court appearances <br />that extend through the courts lunch period and the <br />employee is required to return on the same case that <br />same afternoon, the employee will be paid for that <br />period of time at the overtime rate except for a one <br />(1) hour lunch period. At the employees request and <br />with the approval of the Police Chief compensatory <br />time off may be granted in an amount equal to one and <br />one-half time the overtime worked in lieu of pay. <br />C. Compensatory Time In Lieu of Pay for Standby <br />An employee assigned standby duty may elect to take <br />compensatory time off in an amount equal to the <br />applicable hourly compensation for standby pay. <br />39.6 Flexible Work Schedules <br />When operationally appropriate, and determined to be in the <br />34 <br />
