sa, 0 <br />NTLEMPLOYEE WELLNESS <br />For the period of this Memorandum of Understanding, the concept of employee wellness will <br />continue to be addressed by the City through, but not limited to, executive medical examinations, <br />workshops stressing weight control, nutrition, exercise, etc. The City agrees to continue to provide <br />to employees an Employee Assistance Program. It is agreed that such program shall not be an <br />automatic substitution for appropriate disciplinary action when such action is appropriate. <br />RETIREMENT <br />The City shall, for management staff, contribute to the Public Employees' Retirement System <br />(PERS) each pay period a portion of the employee's contribution rate as established by law, equal to <br />seven percent (7%) of the employee's "compensation" as that term is administered by the Board of <br />Administration of PERS, for the purpose of computing final compensation. Such contributions <br />shall be reported to PERS as special compensation. <br />The City shall maintain its contribution of the employees contribution rate for public safety <br />management staff to nine (9%) percent. <br />The City's contract with the Public Employees Retirement System provides retirement benefits for <br />the 2% @ 55 retirement formula and the 2% @ 50 retirement formula for Safety employees These <br />plans contain the following options: <br />• remarriage post survivor allowance continuance <br />• credit for unused sick leave option <br />• military service credit option <br />Should the three (3%) percent at 50 retirement formula be provided to non -management sworn <br />personnel; it shall also be provided to sworn personnel covered by this Memorandum of <br />Understanding. <br />COMPENSATION <br />Effective January 1, 2000, salaries shall be increased by four (4%) percent for all unit <br />classifications. <br />Effective January 1, 2001, salaries shall be increased by three (3%) percent for all unit <br />classifications. <br />In addition to the increases set forth above, on January 1, 2000, (simultaneous with, but not <br />compounding with the increases set forth above) salaries for classifications of Police Captain and <br />Police Lieutenant shall be increased by two and a half (2.5%) percent. Effective January 1, 2001, <br />salaries for classifications of Police Captain, Police Lieutenant, and Police Chief shall be increased <br />by two and a half (2 1/2%) percent. Also effective January 1, 2000, and for the term of this <br />agreement salary for Assistant City Manager shall be set equal to Police Chief; and the salary for <br />Economic Development Manager shall be set equal to Redevelopment Administrator. <br />DEFERRED COMPENSATION <br />The City shall maintain in effect the deferred compensation program for the term of this agreement. <br />
