CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />City Council Finance Committee Meeting <br />City Manager's Large Conference Room <br />February 11, 1997 (3:30 p.m.) <br />MEETING SL:rMMARY <br />I. Measure B: Neighborhood Rehabilitation Program (Grycz/Algire) <br />Uchenna Udemezue, City Engineer, informed the City Council Finance Committee that the <br />Neighborhood Rehabilitation Program was developed ten years ago with Measure B <br />funds. The program represents a partnership between the City and each neighborhood. It <br />also instills a sense of pride in home ownership. <br />Program activities may include the planting of new street trees, installation of new gutters, <br />weed abatement and other critical elements that are necessary to the overall improvement <br />of the neighborhood. The Engineering, Public Works and Development Services <br />Departments are all involved in successfully implementing this program. <br />The City Engineer reviewed the selection criteria and time line for the Neighborhood <br />Rehabilitation Program. He informed the City Council Finance Committee that the <br />planning phase for each project takes about one year. Currently there are eight future sites <br />identified for this program at a cost of $9 million. <br />U. 1997-98 Budget Strategies (Grycz/Jermanis) <br />John Jermanis, Interim Assistant City Manager, reviewed the budget strategies for the City <br />Council Finance Committee as follows: <br />Expenditure /Service Adjustments <br />Seismic Retrofit at Fire Stations #10 and #11 <br />The City Council Facilities Committee recommended that the City approve an additional <br />$500,000 to fund this project. The City Council Finance Committee concurred with the <br />City Council Facilities Committee recommendations. <br />Expanded Summer Youth Employment Program <br />The City Council Finance Committee recommended approval of this item. $25,000 <br />City Council Communication <br />This item will be utilized to purchase computers for the City Council. Staff is researching <br />additional information regarding this item and will return with a report. $50,000 <br />6 .A <br />
