One-time costs for development and <br />design of the directory are estimated to be LOW. and on -going costs to update. re -print. <br />and distribute directories are estimated to be LOW. <br />Action 1.12: Publish Quarter4l Economic Development Update <br />The City should work with the Chamber of Commerce and the San Leandro Manufacturers <br />Association to publish an Economic Development Update. This publication could promote <br />membership in these two organizations, in addition to providing a means to publicize the <br />availability of City business assistance and economic development programs and contact <br />persons. provide information on outside sources of business assistance. and provide <br />information on important local economic development issues. The Update should also be a <br />venue to publicize local economic development progress and successes. and to highlight <br />ne, or growing San Leandro firms (and how the Cite has assisted these firms). Another <br />important function of this publication can be to inform local businesses about how the Cit- <br />utilizes the taxes they pay on projects and services that benefit local businesses. <br />While the business visitation program is an important means of contacting key local <br />companies. a periodic mailing is an effective means to conduct outreach to the-majo-rav of <br />other local companies that cannot be visited each year. The Economic Development <br />Update should be mailed to local businesses. and selected out-of-town contacts. such as <br />real estate brokers and site locators. A current newsletter should also be included in each <br />Business Welcome Packet. <br />Roles and Responsibilities. Economic Development staff should take the lead in <br />publishing the Economic Development Update. Content for the Update could be generated <br />b\ soliciting articles from departments involved in economic development -related <br />activities.
