SAN LEANDRO EQUITY PLANKEY RECOMMENDATIONS <br />11 <br />GROUP PROCESS <br />Three diverse groups were formed to generate recommendations for <br />this Plan, the RET, CEC and the EWG. In November 2020, the RET was <br />formed organically by staff volunteers interested in engaging in a data <br />driven process around issues related to racial equity. In August 2021, <br />a select group of community members formed to address community <br />outreach, engagement, and communication, and in October 2021, the <br />EWG was organized. <br />RET <br />The RET organized itself into four committees centered <br />on the following focus areas: <br />Community – <br />Schools <br />Hiring – Retention Internal <br />Communications>>>Equity Issues>CEC <br />The CEC was created based on invitation to a select group of seven (7) community <br />members. The CEC formed the following three focus areas: <br />The RET convened eleven (11) team meetings and twenty (20) committee meetings, <br />along with countless hours of work in between meetings from February 9, 2021, <br />to January 20, 2022.The RET developed 21 recommendations and strategies for <br />consideration by the EWG. <br />On a parallel track with the RET, the CEC held seven (7) committee meetings and <br />fourteen (14) subcommittee meetings with small group meetings in between <br />from August 10, 2021, to March 9, 2022. The CEC uplifted 10 recommendations and <br />strategies for consideration by the EWG. <br />Access to <br />Resources>Communications>Community <br />Engagement>
