Mike Oliver <br />-3- January 31, 1996 <br />Comments raised at the Board of Zoning Adjustments Meeting <br />At the public hearing on this matter before the Board of Zoning Adjustments on December 7, <br />1995, the local property owners and residents provided the following comments: <br />• Staff read the letter of support (attached) from Maria Palos, 13917 Seagate Dr., <br />into the record. <br />• Roger Barragan, 13170 Neptune Drive, spoke in favor the of the project. <br />• James Robbins, 14011 Seagate Drive, raised concerns about the amount of traffic <br />the project would generate. <br />• Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, supported the project overall but thought <br />the view would be disturbed, the development fee for street improvements was <br />high, and the condition regarding truck hauling should be changed to truck <br />loading. <br />• Wayne Kislingbury, 2610 West Avenue 134th, raised concerns about the third <br />story of one of the buildings and the loss of a portion of the boat launching <br />parking lot. <br />Two representatives from local labor organizations spoke in opposition to the project. <br />• Barry Luboviski, Secretary/Treasurer to the Building and Construction Trades <br />Council of Alameda County, spoke in opposition questioning the adequacy of the <br />environmental review in regards to the additional story and traffic. He requested <br />a new negative declaration or an environmental impact report with a new traffic <br />study. He also offered his view on the use of union labor. <br />• Gabriel Hernandez, Staff Director for the Hotel and Restaurant Employees Local <br />2850, spoke in opposition to the project questioning the adequacy of the <br />environmental review answers to the Environmental Checklist Form regarding <br />impacts on the health and well-being of members of the community. He also <br />offered his view on the use of union labor. <br />The Board of Zoning Adjustments comments are contained in the attached minutes of the <br />meeting and include the following topics: Marina Boulevard and Doolittle Drive intersection, <br />sewer capacity, adequacy of parking, weekday and weekend occupancy rates, size of <br />conference room, noticing of project, length of occupant stay, number of employees, third <br />story, truck hauling, and Bay Conservation and Development Commission review. The Board <br />received clarification on these topics and approved the project as recommended by staff, <br />including the environmental review. <br />17� <br />
