Wandzia Grycz-Hernandez - Was asked to confirm that the amount set aside for the
survey and vision program was $60,000. Wandzia stated the City Council had some
expansion programs they were investigating and researching with the consultant at the
time the project was put on hold. She did not know what those cost items were but
would have that information for the committee at the next meeting.
b. Review Other Strategy Issues
These are other strategies that may affect the General Fund.
Marina Enterprise Fun
John Jermanis - Distributed a summary of a Daily Review article that stated where the
City sees itself going in terms of projections and expenditures regarding revenues. He
stated that, in the next five years, if the City does nothing, it will continue to operate at a
deficit. John stated one of the points that was not covered in the article was the fact that
these numbers are not unrealistic. John
stated that the City has projected some very conservative figures in terms of facilitating
the dredging.
Mayor Corbett - Asked if the transient tax included projections for future hotels. John
Jermanis responded that the tax did not include a projection for future hotels. John also
stated staff was implementing the City Council's policy of adding the transient occupancy
tax, from the Marina Inn only, over a four-year period.
Garry Loeffler - Stated there needed to be Plan A with the assumption they would
maintain the dredging, and Plan B; with no dredging and what it would do to berthing.
Council Member Loeffler said we have come to a crossroads where the entire City
Council will have to define this issue and determine the direction of the Marina. He also
stated that the long-term opportunities to obtain funding from the Federal Government are
going to disappear. John Jermanis agreed with Mr. Loeffler's statement regarding the
loss of federal funding. However; he mentioned a number of alternatives can be
developed for the City Council's consideration.
Mayor Corbett - Stated the City Council had been working for the last several months to
bring the Marina Fund back into balance through new businesses suggested for the
Marina.
Water Pollution Control Fund
John Jermanis - Distributed a list of the 26 largest water pollution facility users. John
stated these users pay a larger dollar amount due to the additional services they receive.
John also stated that Bob Taylor and his staff are reviewing their operating budget and
5 - - 45
