5. Cable TV Broadcasts of City Meetings and Community Events - Do nothing until after <br />the retrofit is complete. <br />6. Community Survey/Visa Plan - The committee decided to put the funds in reserve for the <br />fiscal year 1996-97. <br />7. Marina Long -Term Obligation <br />Garry Loeffler - Asked where the money came from to support the ice rink. <br />John Jermanis - Responded that the money came from Economic Development and Reserve <br />Funds. <br />Mayor Corbett - Suggested the "Shop San Leandro" name be changed; it should include all <br />businesses. Mayor Corbett also suggested the City focus its efforts on small businesses and <br />home businesses in the community. <br />Mayor Corbett - Said we should offer incentives to encourage home businesses to come forward. <br />Garry Loeffler - Asked if we had investigated upgrading monitoring equipment for the cable <br />system. Wandzia stated that we are looking at a new system. <br />Mayor Corbett - Said she is convinced more than ever the City should do a community survey. <br />Garry Loeffler - Said he believes the changing demographics in the City necessitates that a <br />survey be done. <br />Mike Oliver - Said there was a statistically valid survey of the City completed in 1984. <br />Julian Polvorosa - Said his homeowner group is asking why we need another survey. <br />Julian Polvorosa - Questioned the statement, "Negative Financial Trends." Council Member <br />Polvorosa said we definitely have to look at the long-term issues at the Marina. There needs to <br />be a plan that indicates the new Residence Inn and Conference Center can support the dredging <br />and other operations at the Marina. <br />Mayor Corbett - Stated the Conference Center discussions are going well, and we should wait to <br />see if the City is going to receive the dredging money before we do anything. <br />John Jermanis - Said the Residence Inn will generate the most revenue, $600,000. John stated <br />the Conference Center project will not create enough funds to support the debt at the Marina. <br />Mike Oliver - Said, if the Conference Center is built, the developers might ask the City to make <br />improvements on Marina Boulevard. <br />5 <br />
