Mayor Corbett - Asked that the wording in option "A" be changed to say , "The City, not the <br />Mayor and City Manager," will work hard to obtain Federal funds for the Marina dredging. <br />Public Comments <br />Lee Ness - Suggested that there be a separate section for Enterprise Funds in the Budget <br />Document. <br />Additional Item <br />Mike Oliver stated there was a reduction in the CDBG funding in the amount of $450,000 . This <br />reduction will impact many of the social service programs. <br />Youth Programs <br />Mike Oliver stated Dave Bohne, Community Services Director, is working on a "Youth <br />Program" that staff will bring back to the Finance Committee within 30 days. Mayor Corbett <br />suggested we talk directly to businesses about employing youths. <br />Garry Loeffler - Said he would like the YAC to bless this program and forward it to the City <br />Council with any concerns they may have. <br />Mayor Corbett - Suggested there needs to be a stronger school -to -work program developed. She <br />stated that a business had adopted a school to introduce students to entry-level jobs. <br />Mike Oliver - Suggested the City find a way to use City savings to support capital projects for <br />the School District. The City currently assists the School District with services but would like to <br />expand on this service to strengthen the ties between the School District and the City. <br />Mayor Corbett - Suggested schools be given the financial support to allow students to access City <br />library materials via a computer from their school libraries. <br />Mike Oliver - Advocated putting computers in school libraries as soon as possible. <br />Mayor Corbett - Stated, the longer the City and School District waits, the more costly it will be <br />to implement this service. <br />Mayor Corbett - Wanted to make sure Project Literacy funds are discussed at the Human <br />Resources Commission level. <br />Mayor Corbett - Suggested finding funds for a "Sports Complex." Mayor Corbett stated this <br />item should be added to the budget strategies as a long-term issue. <br />54 <br />2 <br />
