Due to the disturbed nature
of the site and the presence of non-native plant species, it does not provide habitat for special-status
plants.
Birds such as the California towhee (Melozone crissalis) and northern mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos)
have been observed on the Project site, as has the western fence lizard (Sceloporus occidentalis).
Burrows and/or tracks observed on the Project site suggest the presence of small mammals, such as the
California ground squirrel (Otospermophilus beecheyi), Botta’s pocket gopher (Thomomys bottae), and
raccoon (Procyon lotor).
Special-status species, such as the white-tailed kite (Elanus leucurus) and Alameda song sparrow
(Melospiza melodia pusillula), have been observed on the site and other special-status species, e.g.,
California Ridgway’s rail (Rallus obsoletus obsoletus), western snowy plover (Charadrius alexandrines
