Jermanis <br />Ci anager <br />RESOLUTION REJECTING BIDS FOR THE I-880/WASHINGTON AVENUE <br />INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENTS, ACTIA PROJECT NO. 11, PROJECT NO. 144- <br />39-007 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends rejecting all bids from the June 24, 2008 bid opening for the ACTIA <br />11: I-880/Washington Avenue Interchange Improvements project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The I-880/Washington Avenue Interchange Improvement project is a project funded by <br />the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority (ACTIA) Measure B. The <br />improvements are intended to address the traffic congestion in the area of Washington <br />Avenue, Fargo Avenue, Beatrice Street, and the on-ramp of I-880. The improvements <br />include: <br />• Addition of a second left turn lane from northbound Washington Avenue to Beatrice <br />Street <br />• Improvements to the I-880 on-ramp <br />• Addition of a second lane on Beatrice Street between Washington Avenue and the I- <br />880 on-ramp <br />• Reconfiguration of the Washington Avenue at Beatrice Street intersection to separate <br />traffic entering the I-880 on-ramp from local traffic accessing the neighborhood to the <br />west <br />Addition of a second left turn lane southbound Washington Avenue accessing the <br />Greenhouse Marketplace at Fargo Avenue <br />• Reconfiguration of the Washington Avenue at Fargo Avenue intersection <br />• Signal modifications at both Washington Avenue at Beatrice Street and the <br />Washington Avenue at Fargo Avenue intersections <br />• Pedestrian accessibility improvements within the project area <br />
