Hollister, Interim C Manager <br />~~ ._ <br />Uchenna Udemezue, Director <br />Engineering and Transportation D partment <br />Kenneth Joseph, City Engineer ~~ <br />Engineering and Transportation Department ~ .= <br />r <br />SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACTUAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH WINZLER <br />AND KELLY CONSULTING ENGINEERS RELATING TO THE DOWNTOWN LIGHTING <br />AND PEDESTRIAN ENHANCEMENT PROJECT, PROJECT NO. 961-83-054 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends approval of a contractual services agreement with Winzler and Kelly <br />Consulting Engineers in the amount of $58,500 for construction administration services. <br />BACKGROUND <br />In February 2003, the City Council held a work session to consider the recommendations of the <br />Central San Leandro/BART Area Revitalization Strategy, the Downtown Plan and Urban Design <br />Guidelines, and the Transit-0riented Development (TOD) Strategy. This project is a result of <br />these recommendations. <br />This project includes: installation of decorative street lighting in the downtown area (an area <br />bordered by East 14th Street, Davis Street, Hays Street, Juana Avenue, and Parrott Street); <br />closure of the West Joaquin Avenue entrance to the area south of East 14`'' Street to create a new <br />pedestrian plaza; and reconstruction of two City-owned parking lots. <br />A construction contract far these improvements was awarded to McGuire and Hester by the City <br />Council in June X008. <br />Analysis <br />--~',~~~ <br />Stephen L.
