Hollister <br />City Manager <br />BY: Kenneth Joseph, City Engi er <br />Engineering and Transport tion Department <br />SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPROPRIATION OF PARK DEVELOPMENT FUNDS <br />FOR FIXTURES, FURNISHINGS, AND EQUIPMENT (FF&E) RELATED TO THE SENIOR <br />CENTER PHASE 2 IMPROVEMENTS, PROJECT NO. 06-210-18-116. <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends appropriation of $300,000 from the Park Development Fund for the <br />installation of fixtures, furnishings and equipment (FF&E) for the subject project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Senior Center project consists of a 21,000 square foot building, which will support both <br />existing and future senior citizen programs, including but not limited to programs managed and <br />run by the City's Recreation and Human Services Department. <br />The building's structural systems, storage areas, stand-by power generator, and telephone/data <br />network have been enhanced to permit the facility to serve as the City's Emergency Operations <br />Center (EOC). The design included "green" building principles and is expected to receive <br />Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (L.E.E.D.) Certification by the U.S. Green <br />Building Council. <br />In June 2008, the City awarded the contract for building construction of Phase 2 improvements <br />to Alten Construction, Inc., which is scheduled for completion in Summer 2010. <br />Analysis <br />The FF&E for the Senior Center is not included in the current building construction contract. <br />FF&E will need to be acquired and installed prior to opening the facility for public use or as an <br />EOC, and includes various items, such as: <br />
