Hollister
City Manager
RESOLUTION OF AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO CON-QUEST
CONTRACTORS, INC., FOR THE WICKS LIFT STATION AND BLUE DOLPHIN LIFT
STATION REHABILITATION PROJECT, PROJECT NO. 08-593-52-243.
SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends award of contract to the low responsive bidder, Con-Quest Contractors, Inc.,
in the amount of $771,500 for the subject project.
BACKGROUND
The Blue Dolphin Lift Station, serving the Marina area's West Dike, was constructed in 1962 and
has reached the end of its service life. One of the two pumps failed and the station is operating on a
single pump. The station needs to be rehabilitated and the pumps replaced.
The Wicks Lift Station was constructed in 1966 as a dry and wet well package system with the
pumps and valves located in the dry well, and asurface-mounted control center. The lift station
serves local businesses south of the station and pumps flow to the Merced Lift Station located 200
feet away, requiring double handling of the flow. The station has reached the end of its service life
as indicated by its increasing unreliability and increased maintenance.
On January 19, 2010, the City Council approved the plans and specifications for the rehabilitation of
the subject pump stations.
