ExtraTeam shall provide a single workstation image which will be used as the standard City
desktop image for the new system. Specifically:
• Review current workstation deployment practices and advise on process
improvement based on current best practices.
• Develop new image using the Windows XP Workstation operating system. Microsoft
Office applications, including Outlook XP, shall be included and configured in the
Active Directory Environment. Other existing applications will be migrated into the
new image, with appropriate settings for the migration and new environment.
• Active Directory Group Policy Objects (GPO's) shall be designed and deployed to
configure workstation and application settings, security settings, and provide greater
usability. GPO shall be used for all settings possible as deemed applicable.
• McAfee Anti-Virus software shall be deployed on each image. The Anti-Virus system
shall be Enterprise-managed on all desktops using McAfee's ePolicy Orchestrator
(eP0). San Leandro currently has apartially-working ePO. ExtraTeam will resolve the
current issues, re-install/re-design eP0 if needed.
• The workstation image, all local settings, and GPO settings shall be certified in an
onsite test lab environment emulating the current Novell system, the migration
process, and the new system.
• The workstation image, imaging process, local settings, and GPO's shall be
documented as tested in the lab and implemented in the production environment.
• Determine the appropriate policies and procedures for the preservation of existing
data and settings stored locally on production workstations.
• Perform imaging process of each workstation in the production environment.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues, retest/retool process in the onsite test lab as
needed.
• Partner with City IT Staff throughout the workstation imaging process, providing
hands-on training and knowledge transfer to the staff.
• End-user training should be performed 1 working day before workstation imaging
occurs. The City of San Leandro will be responsible for providing end-user Windows
XP, Office XP, and Workstation application training. ExtraTeam will advise in the
development of a training program, but will not perform or supervise the actual
training.
NDS Migration to Windows Active Directory (includes File-and-Print)
ExtraTeam shall design and install a new Windows 2000 Active Directory system and
migrate the existing NDS and Netware File-and-Print to Windows 2000 AD. Specifically:
• Establish a functional DHCP, DNS and WINS infrastructure.
• Develop Active Directory structure which duplicates (in function) current NDS users,
user rights, security group memberships, and security policies. Review existing
username/groupname naming standards and advise on improvement. Implement
agreed changes.
• Develop and evaluate procedures in implementing the new system. Deploy and
validate the new system in test-lab environment, emulate the production network in
the lab & confirm interoperability.
• Re-create all user and group object ACL's applied to file systems or Directory Objects
(i.e. Printers).
• Create parallel file system structures for user home folders and shared-file areas. File
systems will be simultaneously accessible via Netware and Windows File Sharing for
the duration of the migration.
• Create a parallel network printing system (NDS and Windows 2000). Existing
network printing will be available to users on both platforms.
• Deploy in production network:
o Troubleshoot & resolve all issues, return to test-lab for retesting/retooling as
needed.
o Deploy 6File-and-Print servers. Deploy 7 Domain Controllers.
o Deploy 1 Exchange 2000 member server.
o Deploy 2 redundant/load-balanced standalone DMZ-Utility servers.
EXHIBIT A-1
