The City is also continuing to partner with South Alameda County jurisdictions on green
building policies and public outreach. The next planned event is a solar providers' fair with either
PGE or a local non-profit.
Fleet Vehicles
Comment: Consider specifying electric vehicles instead of hybrids.
Response: CAP has been modified to say "electric or hybrid" wherever "hybrid" was stated
previously.
Transportation-related Emissions
Comment: It was noted that the City has achieved great success in Transit Oriented
Development and that the TOD received the highest score in the Cost Benefit Analysis,
which ratifies the current City Council's actions in supporting TOD and the subsequent
developments in the downtown.
Transportation has the largest share of emissions, much of which is related to mobile
sources, such as vehicles and trucks that come through our highways. It was recommended
that ACTIA shift funds away from road improvements into transit.
Response: Staff will continue to work with regional agencies to promote both TOD and other
emissions-reducing measures.
Waste
Comment: Waste treatment discussion doesn't seem to address the Oro Loma Sanitary
District (OLSD). Waste-to-Energy efforts by Waste Management Authority should be
mentioned.
Response: The City has just hired a consultant, HF&H, to prepare a zo-year diversion plan. As
part of that effort, more ambitious strategies for waste reduction and recycling for the entire
city (OLSD included) will be developed. The waste section of the CAP will be amended to
include mention of the Oro Loma Sanitary District.
Efforts such as those of Waste Management will be reported to the City Council in subsequent
reports during the Implementation and Monitoring/Verification phases of the Sustainability
effort.
